Tablets may offer a cheaper alternative to laptops, but they can still be a significant expense. Discounts can make a significant difference, like the current sale on the 128GB Google Pixel Tablet, now priced at $275, reduced from $399. This 31 percent discount marks a new all-time low price for the tablet, available only in Porcelain and without the speaker dock (however, that combo is 11 percent off).
Google introduced this Pixel Tablet in summer 2023 with features we appreciated and others that left us wanting more. It earned an 84 in our review largely due to its smart home capabilities. Our reviewer, Cherlynn Low, who already had a Nest Mini in her room, noted the tablet’s superior performance. The sound quality is impressive—thanks to the Speaker Dock—and its Hub Mode is highly functional, offering control over home devices, including camera feeds and switch lamps.
This device can be excellent for entertainment and convenience. However, certain aspects, like intuitive gestures, may not meet all users’ expectations, and the tablet is less frequently used without the stand. On the plus side, its battery life is commendable, lasting 21.5 hours at 50 percent brightness in our tests when used without a dock.
