Xbox Support Agent Accidentally Reveals Oblivion Remaster, Possible Launch in Four Days

Gossip alert: Bethesda has dedicated more than ten years to porting Skyrim across nearly every platform imaginable, leaving fans to wonder if an Oblivion remake could be next. Recent chatter from an intriguing Xbox Support conversation hints that this highly anticipated revival might be imminent.

Recently leaked documents from the FTC’s lawsuit against Microsoft have revealed ongoing plans for remasters of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Two years ago, a former employee of Virtuos Games confirmed the existence of the Oblivion remake. While Microsoft and Bethesda have been silent regarding the leaked plans, that hasn’t stopped speculation from brewing.

In more recent developments, a well-known leaker, NateTheHate, suggested that Bethesda has accelerated the timeline for Oblivion’s release. While initial reports hinted at a June launch, his insiders indicate a potential release as soon as March or April. This week, a series of purported screenshots emerged, showing box art and seemingly authentic Xbox promotional materials, adding credibility to his claims.

Then on Tuesday, as the images circulated, a user named Raven shared screenshots and a video allegedly showing an Xbox Support bot claiming the Oblivion remake would launch in less than a week – specifically on April 21. However, the legitimacy of this exchange remains uncertain.

The chat begins with a “virtual agent” greeting but transitions to affirming, “This is a live agent.” After Raven inquires about cloud gaming availability, the representative replies with what appears to be a pre-written message confirming it will be available. Upon asking about the launch date, the agent states it will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title launching on April 21, 2025.

This chat sparks legitimate skepticism, despite appearing quite credible.

Kotaku tried to reproduce this interaction by reaching out to Xbox Support multiple times. In response, a live service agent stated that the studio has not confirmed the game officially, directing inquiries to Xbox’s social media channels for updates. This standard response often given regarding unannounced products does not dismiss the leaked release date, but it remains the only official comment we have for now.
