Although AMD postponed the release of its Ryzen 9000-series processors, which utilize the Zen 5 microarchitecture, from July 31 to early and mid-August, Best Buy briefly listed the new CPUs today, revealing plausible launch prices. According to the retailer’s catalog, the most affordable unlocked Zen 5-based processor is set to start at $279, while the top-tier Zen 5-powered CPU will launch at $599.
AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series rollout will begin with the relatively affordable six-core Ryzen 5 9600X and eight-core Ryzen 7 9700X on August 8. Based on the Best Buy listing, the Ryzen 5 9600X will be priced at $279, and the Ryzen 7 9700X will carry a recommended price of $359. The more advanced 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X and 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X will be available on August 15 at MSRPs of $449 and $599, respectively, as per the Best Buy listing.

Notably, compared to the launch prices of the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 processors, the new Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9000 CPUs are cheaper. The top-tier Ryzen 9 5950X started at $799 in 2020, while the Ryzen 9 7950X had a recommended $699 price in 2022. In contrast, the top-end Ryzen 9 9950X is listed at $599. Both the Ryzen 7 5600X and Ryzen 7 7600X were priced at $299 at launch, whereas the upcoming Ryzen 5 9600X is expected to be priced at $279.
As always with accidental retailer listings, it is important to note that AMD has not officially announced pricing for their Ryzen 9000 CPUs. Given Best Buy’s standing as a major US electronics retailer, these prices have a high probability of accuracy, but they should be taken with a grain of salt due to the possibility of last-minute price changes.
