Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Lands Movie Deal Before Official Release

Recently, Hollywood has increasingly been using video games as inspiration for their films. Despite their track record being improving (mostly), it is surprising to see a movie adaptation announced even before the game that inspired it is released. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 left a significant mark on some influential people, leading to its adaptation into a live-action film by Story Kitchen. Part of Microsoft’s showcase in August, this fantasy RPG was also spotlighted during last week’s announcement. It’s scheduled for release on April 24.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Sandfall Interactive to bring the rich, immersive world of Expedition 33 to the big screen,” said Story Kitchen founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, as reported by Variety. “The game’s compelling storyline and intricate characters lay the groundwork for a cinematic experience that both gamers and moviegoers will enjoy.”

Story Kitchen has been curating a notable collection of video games for adaptations to both film and television. Previously known as dj2 Entertainment, the company is already involved with adaptations for It Takes Two, Tomb Raider series, Dredge, Vampire Survivors, and Sifu
