If you own an AILUKI-branded cordless drill, it is crucial to heed a warning from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC has advised consumers to immediately stop using them due to links with multiple fire incidents and a reported burn injury.

The CPSC’s report indicates receipt of nine separate complaints concerning the AILUKI cordless drill. Though the timeline of these events isn’t specified, issues include explosions, ignitions, smoking, overheating, and melting, causing property damage exceeding $3,000.

Issued on October 24, 2024, this warning targets a singular Cordless drill model from AILUKI, sold on major platforms like Amazon, Desertcart.com, and Snapklik.com from September 2020 to September 2024.

To help identify these drills, the CPSC provided images showing the easily recognizable AILUKI brand name on the drill and its case, along with a prominent “Lithium” logo on the handle.

Manufacturer unresponsive to CPSC’s recall requests

Following numerous complaints, the CPSC reached out to the manufacturer, Shenzhen Nuoyafangzhou Dianzishangwu Youxiangongsi, for a response. However, the manufacturer has not yet responded to the CPSC’s recall request.

The commission strongly advises owners to disconnect the battery packs from these drills and properly dispose of them due to significant injury and death risks.

Users are also encouraged to adhere to local hazardous waste disposal guidelines since these drills contain lithium-ion batteries that shouldn’t be discarded with regular trash. Moreover, the CPSC discourages using standard battery recycling boxes for these potentially hazardous batteries.

Though AILUKI cordless drills aren’t available on Amazon anymore, they were previously sold for prices between $26 and $51. If you own one and encounter similar issues, consider reporting it to the CPSC via their website. Additionally, if shopping for a new drill, you might want to determine if a cordless drill suits your needs.
