Game Informer Returns with Its Full Team Intact

The iconic gaming journalism outlet Game Informer has made a triumphant return. After more than thirty years since its first issue launched in August 1991, the publication was officially by its parent company, GameStop, in August 2024. However, the rights to Game Informer have since been acquired by Gunzilla Games, marking a rare victory in the contemporary media landscape, as the entire team that worked for Game Informer at the time of its closure will be reinstated.

Editor-in-Chief Matt Miller provided insights on how the outlet was revived, emphasizing that Gunzilla Games will take a hands-off approach. "The new owners were adamant about Game Informer functioning as an independent editorial entity," he stated. "They shared our team’s conviction that the only way forward was with an editorial group that made all decisions regarding our coverage and methods, free from any influence from them or others."

“We are thrilled to include the talented team behind Game Informer in the Gunzilla Games family, joining their effort to maintain the integrity of video game journalism during these challenging times for the industry," remarked Gunzilla CEO and Co-Founder Vlad Korolov .

The website, along with its extensive back catalog, has been relaunched online. The staff of Game Informer have also reviewed over two dozen games released during the site’s hiatus and have published their belated list of the best games of 2024. Additionally, the print magazine is set to resume operations, and Miller indicated that further information regarding subscription and membership options will be shared soon.

Gunzilla Games, which includes Hollywood director among its leadership, developed a battle royale shooter titled Off the Grid and is also responsible for the GUNZ blockchain platform.
