HubSpot Boosts AI-Powered Platform with Acquisition of Clearbit
In an exciting move, HubSpot, the leading marketing software maker and CRM platform based in Boston, has announced its acquisition of Clearbit, a renowned B2B data provider. This strategic partnership aims to enhance HubSpot’s platform by integrating third-party company data from millions of businesses, providing valuable insights for its customer base.
Clearbit, founded in 2015, initially started as a tool to help users find email addresses associated with companies, alongside valuable employee information. With early support from investors like SV Angel and First Round Capital, Clearbit soon expanded its suite of tools to offer sales, marketing, and operations solutions, including integrations with popular CRM providers like HubSpot and Salesforce. Its technology also enabled companies to enrich their leads, contacts, and accounts with additional data from various sources, including public web data and proprietary information.
One of the key factors behind HubSpot’s interest in Clearbit was the company’s innovative use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI. By leveraging these technologies, Clearbit developed the ability to convert unstructured data into standardized datasets, allowing for the identification and enrichment of company and contact data from any country and language. This cutting-edge capability made Clearbit an attractive acquisition target.
The acquisition of Clearbit will position it as a subsidiary of HubSpot, eventually integrating its capabilities into HubSpot’s customer platform. This move aligns with HubSpot’s mission to simplify the process of analyzing and utilizing company data, ensuring customers can enrich their internal customer data with real-time external context.
Yamini Rangan, CEO of HubSpot, emphasized the power of combining Clearbit’s extensive data collection with HubSpot’s AI-powered platform, creating significant value for customers. Clearbit, with its extensive network of partnerships, including Twilio Segment, Asana, Intercom, and many others, has already been available to HubSpot customers through the HubSpot App Marketplace since 2019. Now, this integration will enable even more comprehensive data enrichment and actionable insights.
Clearbit, which had previously raised $17 million in funding, valued at $250 million, before the acquisition, expressed enthusiasm about joining forces with HubSpot. The collaboration aims to unlock a new level of value for B2B customers, helping them grow better. Deal terms for the acquisition were not immediately disclosed.
With HubSpot’s acquisition of Clearbit, the future of AI-powered sales, marketing, and operations is looking brighter than ever. This partnership will undoubtedly revolutionize the way companies harness third-party data and gain actionable insights, fueling growth and success in the B2B space.
