The sequel from Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive to their popular city construction game had a difficult beginning more than a year ago. Although it had a loyal fan base offering considerable input for the development of Cities: Skylines II, the initial reactions were not favorable.
Enthusiasts were frustrated when Cities: Skylines II launched exclusively on PC without a concurrent console release. Additionally, there was dissatisfaction due to the heightened spec requirements announced a month before the launch. Even users with high-performance PCs encountered issues with the game several months post-release. Colossal Order CEO penned a blog post the ensuing January, addressing a “rising trend of toxicity in our community, a situation we had not encountered to such a degree before.”
