Snyk Strengthens AppSec Platform with Helios Acquisition

In a strategic move to enhance its application security platform, Snyk has announced the acquisition of Helios, a Tel Aviv-based startup specializing in troubleshooting and understanding microservices in production. This acquisition will enable Snyk to further bolster its recently launched AppRisk service and provide developers with a more comprehensive security solution both during the build process and in production.

The acquisition of Helios marks Snyk’s second investment in this space, following the acquisition of Enso Security in June 2023. This trend reflects a larger industry movement, as larger players with broader offerings seek to integrate point solutions at a reduced cost, aligning with enterprise efforts to streamline expenses.

With the integration of Helios’ end-to-end application discovery service and OpenTelemetry-based runtime data collection tools, Snyk aims to address the increasing complexity of software development while mitigating security risks.

The founders of Helios, Eli Cohen and Ran Nozik, expressed their excitement about the acquisition, highlighting the shared vision and mutual benefit of the collaboration. Snyk CEO, Peter McKay, emphasized the importance of addressing critical security concerns in the rapidly evolving landscape of software development.

As Snyk continues its quest to push the market forward with an enhanced security solution, the acquisition of Helios signifies a strategic move to reinforce the company’s commitment to providing developers with a robust and comprehensive application security platform.
