Sonos is actively restructuring as it recuperates from the setbacks experienced after last year’s disastrous mobile app redesign. Merely a day following CEO Patrick Spence’s departure from the company, chief product officer Maxime Bouvat-Merlin is also stepping down. He will serve as an advisor to interim CEO Tom Conrad during the leadership transition before completely leaving Sonos.
Per The Verge, Conrad notified Sonos employees of the latest leadership changes through a company-wide email today. The CPO role is becoming redundant, with Sonos’ product team temporarily reporting directly to Conrad.
Following Bouvat-Merlin’s departure, The Verge reported that chief commercial officer Deirdre Findlay is also exiting the company. However, an internal email from Conrad indicated that Findlay’s departure timeline remains unspecified, and her reasons for leaving Sonos are unrelated to the recent leadership shifts.
Sonos has been struggling since a May mobile app update introduced numerous bugs and omitted essential features. This caused a downturn in the company’s financial performance, leading to the layoff of approximately 100 employees in August. Several efforts have been made by Sonos to keep customers informed about its recovery strategies following the app launch, and replacing top leadership appears to be the latest strategy to regain public trust in the company.
