Patreon Takes Livestream Ticketed Events to the Next Level with Moment Acquisition
In an exciting move, Patreon has announced its acquisition of Moment, a Los Angeles-based startup that specializes in ticketed livestream events. This strategic partnership aims to revolutionize the way creators on the Patreon platform can connect with their audiences through immersive digital experiences.
Moment, founded in 2019 by Arjun Mehta, Nigel Egrari, and Shray Bansal, has already made waves in the industry by working with big names like Justin Bieber and Tame Impala. Through its platform, Moment has facilitated ticketed livestream concerts, podcasts, and other events. The company has received $13.5 million in funding from prominent investors such as Halsey, UTA, Zaiko, and Forerunner Ventures.
By acquiring Moment, Patreon acknowledges the growing demand for livestreaming capabilities among its creators. The acquisition will pave the way for enhanced features and tools within Patreon’s ecosystem, empowering creators to monetize their content and engage with their communities in new and exciting ways.
As part of the deal, Moment’s talented team will join forces with Patreon, working closely and collaboratively across various departments, including creator and product teams. This integration ensures a seamless transition and allows for the seamless incorporation of Moment’s features into Patreon’s existing suite of tools.
CEO of Moment, Arjun Mehta, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We built Moment to help artists and creators gather their global communities for premium live experiences while providing them complete control over creative and monetization. We are excited to join the Patreon team and deliver an even better, integrated experience to many more creators and their communities.”
The first Moment event under the Patreon umbrella is already set to take place on October 19. Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America Live from DC” will feature notable personalities such as Senator John Fetterman, Chef Jose Andres, and Jennifer Carroll Foy, a candidate for the Virginia State Senate.
This acquisition is in line with Patreon’s commitment to strengthening creators’ relationships with their fanbases. In recent months, Patreon has rolled out a series of new features, including a newly redesigned app and a chat feature akin to Discord. These enhancements aim to provide creators with direct and meaningful connections to their fans, ultimately fostering a sustainable future for the creator community.
Patreon’s acquisition of Moment marks its fourth successful acquisition within a relatively short period. In the past, Patreon has assimilated companies like Kit, Memberful, and Subbable to expand its offerings and provide creators with robust tools to monetize their content and cultivate dedicated fanbases.
With the merging of Patreon and Moment, the future looks promising for creators in the digital sphere. Together, they are poised to unlock countless opportunities for engagement and monetization, empowering creators worldwide to realize their artistic visions and build sustainable careers.
